Biography

In a dual role, Kate oversees UCI Applied Innovation’s operations including facilities, IT, events, finance and human resources, as well as providing leadership for central marketing, media and community engagement. UCI Applied Innovation is a dynamic, innovative central hub for the UCI campus, Orange County’s vibrant business community, investors, inventors and entrepreneurs to come together to move UCI research from the lab to real world in an effort to create industries, jobs and economic advancement for the region.

Kate has a broad-based business perspective gained from working within both the public and private sectors throughout her career.  Her varied experience in government relations and public affairs includes working for the Arizona Department of Commerce, Parsons Corporation, Walt Disney Imagineering, Disneyland Resort, KB Home, California Apartment Association, Orange County Business Council and, most recently, as the Associate Vice Chancellor Public Affairs/Chief of Staff for the UCI’s Strategic Communications and Public Affairs division.

“I’m honored to serve on behalf of all of UC’s staff and to share their perspective on critical issues. They are a rich resource of wisdom, balance and collaboration and I look forward to working with them to enhance their career experience and help UC achieve its mission at the highest level possible.”

Honored as the 74th Assembly District Woman of the Year 2016, Kate has also been recognized by OC Metro as “20 Women to Watch” and has been a nominee for the Orange County Business Journal’s “Women in Business Awards”.
