Biography
Mayté serves as a Senior Research Associate at the UC Davis Office of the Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs.
Mayté Frías is a social scientist at heart. She holds a BS in psychology from Universidad de Colima and a PhD in social psychology from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Her career in Higher Education has been devoted to understanding non-academic factors that contribute to the student success of traditionally marginalized communities, such as racial and sexual minorities, FirstGen, low income, and individuals with disabilities.
At UC Davis, she applies her expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods to understand the effectiveness of Student Affairs support services to improve programmatic efforts to enhance student success. She sees her work with student data as a tool to advance equity.
Mayté has served as chair of the UC Davis Latinx Staff and Faculty Association (LSFA), where she enjoyed being a liaison between the UC Davis Chicanx/Latinx community and the campus leadership.
As a Staff Advisor to the UC Regents, Mayté's goal is to continue being a force that keeps the UC system moving forward towards its equity goals. She plans to make intentional efforts to enhance the voices of those groups who don't traditionally have their voices represented.
